Weasel Moot, Chicago’s premier Diplomacy tournament, is excited to host the World Diplomacy Convention for its 21st edition from September 23-26 2027! Join us for four days of competition, variants, social events, and community fun at the Warwick Allerton in downtown Chicago! We’ll host the world championships for face-to-face Diplomacy and the Imperial variant, as well as the WDC hobby meeting that sets the course for future WDCs.

Moot is run by the Windy City Weasels, one of the longest-running and most vibrant Diplomacy clubs in the world. We’ve been sharpening Chicago’s fangs for over 20 years! Whether you’re chasing the title, exploring variants, or just here for the camaraderie, you’ll be part of that legacy.

Code of Conduct

The Weasel Moot XXI champion will be given two titles: world face-to-face champion as well as the coveted title of “Alpha Weasel” (see Alpha Weasels).

Schedule of events

Social Events will be scheduled for Thursday, September 23rd (and possibly earlier in the week as well).

The classic Diplomacy tournament will begin on Friday, September 24th, with one or two rounds. There will be two rounds on Saturday, September 25th, and the final round on Sunday, September 26th. An awards ceremony will be completed by 4pm CT.

The schedule for Imperial Diplomacy is still being determined.

LODGING, PARKING, AND PUBLIC TRANSIT

VENUE

Weasel Moot XXI will be hosted at the Warwick Allerton at 701 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60611, right in the middle of the Magnificent Mile, Chicago’s premier neighborhood for dining, shopping, and nightlife, with easy accessibility to the city’s best tourist attractions. The Allerton is a historic hotel with a gorgeous two-story ballroom. We couldn’t be happier to host the tournament here.

We got a fantastic base rate of $175/night. A limited number of suites are available, so book as soon as possible if you want one. The room block is already active, so go for it!

Scoring

Weasel Moot XIX will be played using the Open Tribute scoring system. This system is also used in the Virtual Diplomacy League (VDL). The incentives in Open Tribute scoring can be summarized as “top the board if possible, with as many supply centers as possible, otherwise survive and keep the board-topper as small as possible.”

All participants of Weasel Moot must follow the NADF Code of Conduct.

Founded in 2006, the Windy City Weasels are one of the most active Diplomacy leagues in North America. We are known for our fierce competition, strong traditions, upstanding character, and the propensity for Turkey to open to Armenia. Full Members can play in league games and qualify for the Weasel Royale championship game!
