CODCon Cometh

The field is forming for this weekend’s CODCon Open at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, the 12th installment of the event that put Chicago back on tournament Diplomacy’s map. Among the players vying for this year’s title will be three former champions with a combined five titles, two former runners-up, and one former third-place finisher.

The first two rounds will be Saturday, April 14, with the third and final round on Sunday the 15th. In a break from tradition, all three rounds will count for score.

    As a reminder, we will be using Swiss pairings for this tournament. The first round will use random pairings but after that you will be assigned a board based on your scores. At the start of rounds two and three, the top scores will be assigned the top board, the next seven will go to board two, and so on. This means that to be the best you have to play the best. It looks like a fun matchup!

    Will youth be served? We have five high school kids on that list, plus two more in college and one recent grad. Six of them have played at CODCon before.

    CODCon is a wonderful event for introducing players of all ages to tournament Dip.
