After 5 games in 7 days, the editorial staff took a much needed break from your usual Weasel content/ over-the-top puns. Here’s hoping the Cubs’ bats wake up with us.
The gloves came off at the Weasel Royale. 7 players walked in, only one emerged as our Bull Weasel and 2015-16 season champion. Congratulations to Matt Sundstrom, who brought his second ‘ship to port as Turkey. Given this and the fact that he has a Turkish opening named after him, we all greatly look forward to his contributions to THE WISE OLD WEASEL: TURKEY next month. (We here at the Weekly Weasel are subtle with our peer pressure.)
Read all about the top board here. Shout out to Dan Burgess for being a gracious host.
MICKTORIOUS ONCE AGAIN
Meanwhile, in the Undercard at Weasel Royale, newcomer Mick Johnson racked up his second board top in just 3 games. He’s now topping the standings with 101 points, giving him an excellent chance of making the top board next year. For more details on the boozy basement battle, click here.
WE INTERUPT YOUR USUAL WEASEL CONTENT TO INTERUPT OTHER WEASEL CONTENT
Speaking of the Wise Old Weasel, everyone’s new favorite blog, the Italy edition previously scheduled for October (because Columbus Day) has been postponed. The new date is likely March, celebrating the Ides of March, the most famous stabs in history (literally!). Instead, the Wise Old Weasel will be celebrating the neutrals this month, in the spirit of "Indigineous People’s Day," also known as "We Feel Bad About Columbus Day." There may actually be a post on this, especially if game 2 goes as well as game 1 did.
Sign up for games. We may need one for the Dip or Treat at David’s place Sunday.
All right, I need to level with you here. I get that you’d stab your ally, but your best friend? Dogs are man’s best friend, so what does that make puppies? Smaller, more adorable, innocent versions of man’s best friend? Well, clearly not to you, because this is the third time you’ve read this far without paying your dues. Think of all the best friends you’ve killed. What is this, March 15, 44BC? Next time you see a dog, know that it is looking back at you and thinking "Et tu, Brute?"
Save your little, adorable, bestest friends by paying your dues here. Don’t make me shame you with puppies and abstract historical references again.
