Your Holy Thursday just got holier. Read on for the latest news from the Weasels.
Red Julius
We celebrated history’s best stab last week with a game of Diplomacy at the Red Lion. Exactly seven players attended on primary election night. (Well, eight if we count Brian Shelden, who showed up late to hang out and watch the game.) In keeping with the Ides of March theme, there were lots of stabs. Check out the game summary and reactions from a couple of the players.
Brawl Right Now
Last week, we reported a shakeup atop the Bar Room Brawl standings. We were wrong. A data entry error inflated Christian Kline’s score by two points, so Jake Trotta actually held onto the top spot following action on March 9, and he stayed there after the March 13 game. Take a look at the complete standings.
It’s the CODCon Countdown
Cue Europe. Our 10th annual CODCon Open tips off two weeks from Saturday. Are you planning to join us? Let me know.
The event will be April 9-10 at the Student Resource Center at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, 425 Fawell Blvd. We’ll be in the same basement classroom that we’ve occupied the past two years.
The Whole World Is Watching
CODCon will be a great opportunity to tune up for the worldwide Diplomacy hobby’s premier event, which is coming to Chicago in June. For the second time in four years, the Weasels will host the World Diplomacy Championship. WDC will be June 24-26 at Roosevelt University’s vertical campus, 425 S. Wabash. The event will also serve as the North American Championship (and our 10th Weasel Moot championship).
Back in 2012, five overseas players joined us. With exactly three months to go until first stab, we’ve already doubled that number, including five players from Australia and New Zealand. So far, our numbers include the reigning world champ, five former world champs, 10 past North American champs, nine past Grand Prix champs, and all but one of the previous Weasel Moot champs. And Dave Maletsky.
It’s going to be a great event. Be sure to get this one on your calendar and do whatever it takes to earn your weekend pass. (Within reason.)
Dues Still Due
Your 2016 dues are now due! Once again, we’re charging $25 for members and $10 for students. Dues will get you a combined $15 off our two tournaments–CODCon in April ($5) and the World Diplomacy Championship at Weasel Moot X in June ($10)–plus eligibility for our season-ending awards and the Weasel Royale. And you’ll also help us maintain the website and keep our Meetup page.
You can PayPal your dues to wcwsneak@gmail.com. For your convenience, just use the button on this page. Thank you to the 16 Weasels who have paid up thus far. Check the link below for the complete list of dues-paying Weasels.
