Here’s the latest news from the Weasels.
CODCon in T-12
Calling all Loose Cannons! Our ninth annual CODCon Open Diplomacy tournament tips off in 12 days.
Now, if you get the Loose Cannon reference, then you’ve been around for a while and we don’t need to give you the hard sell. You know firsthand how much fun our little tournament in the western suburbs is because you’ve undoubtedly been there before. But we do need you to check the list of confirmed attendees and let us know whether your name should be on it.
For those of you who don’t get the reference, please consider joining us April 11-12 at the Student Resource Center at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, 425 W. Fawell Blvd. Over the years, we’ve forged some great memories there. Who knows, maybe you’ll play a starring role in the next one.
Of course, sometimes the memories happen at our open gaming and after parties off campus. We’ll be gathering Friday night and Saturday after midnight for some pre- and post-con fun. In previous years, Junta, Imperial, Civilization and Cards against Humanity all have hit the table after hours. (I’m sure we’ll play Room 25, this year. It’s a perfect downtime game for Diplomacy players.) If you’re interested in these activities, drop me a line and I’ll share the details.
As for the tournament, we’ll play two rounds on Saturday with a hard ending at midnight, and one on Sunday. The tournament will end no later than 4 p.m. on Sunday.
We hope you’ll join us for CODCon this year.
Tuning up for CODCon
This week will be a busy one with two final opportunities to tune up for the CODCon Open. We’ve moved up April’s Red Wednesday to April 1 to accommodate CODCon. Join us at 6:30 p.m. at the Red Lion in Lincoln Square for another evening of Dip and Drinks. We have two more new faces on the list and one more open spot on the first board. Make your plans to join us. The game will end no later than 11 p.m.
Then on Saturday, Peter Lokken will host a game at his home in Logan Square, beginning at 11 a.m. until no later than 6 p.m. This game is full and will feature four more first-time Weasels. Standbys are needed, so let us know if you’re available to play on short notice if needed.
Moot Preregistration Is Now Open
Hroom, Hroom! You know what that call means. The Weasels are gathering, and you have been summoned. Weasel Moot IX will be June 13-14 in the Atrium at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Housing is available in the attached dorm, but only if you preregister, which you may do now.
You can get a single room at the dorm for $41 per night or share a double for $30. (In either case, you’ll be sharing a bathroom with another room.) The website lists other housing options for those who are done with dorm-style living.
Dues Are Due
Dues for 2015 are now due. We’ve kept our rates the same. A regular membership will cost you $25; the student rate is just $10. Dues will get you a discount on our tournament entry fees ($10 value!), eligibility for club awards and the Weasel Royale championship game, and–when we think of it–first crack at our house games. Dues pay for our club awards, the Meetup group, our website, and the Royale award and hosting subsidy. Please consider paying dues today. You may do so via PayPal or by giving cash to a member of the Sneak. Thank you to the 18 Weasels who have paid up so far! We appreciate your support.
