Thirteen Stabbers Stabbing
The Red Lion was decked with boughs of holly and broken promises last week for our third Red Wednesday event. Fortunately, the partridge in a pear tree was followed by a couple of walk-ups, which allowed us to field a second board. Yay!
The event featured three more new faces, plus an old one in an unfamiliar beard (Aash Anand). Check out the summary.
Dip on the Day After
Christmas isn’t over until we say it’s over! Join Pete McNamara on the day after Christmas for a game of Diplomacy at his home in Evanston. Pete will provide dinner and drinks. The game will start at 4 p.m. and end no later than midnight. We need two more players to make it happen.
Ring in the New Year with a Red Wednesday
Our first Red Wednesday of 2015 will be on January 14. We already have a full board signed up, and all seven players are new to the club. When the regulars start piling on, we’ll have an excellent shot at our second straight two-board session.
The Brawl Thickens
Meanwhile, we’ve updated the Bar Room Brawl Series standings through last week’s play. So far this season, 27 players have participated in our seven bar games. Check out the leader board.
It’s Brawl Set
On Wednesday, we’ll settle last year’s Brawl Series. The 2014 Bar Room Brawl Championship Game will begin at 6 p.m. at the Red Lion in Lincoln Square. It will end no later than 11.
We had another lineup change. Ben DiPaola, the first alternate who stepped in as the seventh seed when top seed Nate Cockerill bowed out, has dropped. He will be replaced by third alternate John Gramila. Second alternate Amber Bree will be serving us drinks, so we skipped her.
Check out the complete lineup.
Weasel Bowl?
Bull Weasel Matt Sundstrom would like to host a game at his home in Glenview on either January 2 or 3. If you would like to play and have a preferred date, let me know.

Culture Shock
Finally, Tony Prokes submitted this link about seven middle-school girls in Korea playing Diplomacy for the first time. Check it out.
That’s all for this week.
