The Weekly Weasel — Week of July 28

Here’s the first Weekly Weasel in the era of our Alpha Weasel theta. All hail John Gramila!

Sweep!
When Matt Sundstrom swept our tournaments in 2009, we sort of figured no one would ever duplicate that feat. We figured wrong. Congratulations to John Gramila on following up his CODCon championship with a 24-point win at Moot. For all the coverage, click here.

Be Like Jim
One topic that dominated conversations all weekend long was my impressive wardrobe. If you’d like to own a Weasels warrior shirt of your own, head over to our online store. Every second you delay is a lost opportunity to look good.

Whisky Papa Niner
Over the weekend, quite a few of you said you’d be going to the season-ending Weasel Pyle on August 9. Please do host Eric Brown a favor by responding to me, on Meetup or here. Eric likes to ensure that there’s enough food and drink for all his guests, and that’s hard to do when he doesn’t know who’s coming.

The ninth annual season-ending Weasel Pyle will begin at 11 a.m. at Eric’s beautiful home in bucolic Wayne and will wrap up no later than 10.

In addition to the boards — one of which will be our 250th league game — we’ll hand out our annual club awards, The Weasels; announce the bids for the Weasel Royale and Bar Room Brawl championship games; strike the Regimental Choir; and engage in all sorts of merrymaking. You don’t want to miss this.

Upcoming Games

  • August 9, Weasel Pyle Nine, the season-ending gala at Eric Brown’s home in Wayne, starting at 11 a.m. until no later than 10 p.m. Have a lot. Need to update the list…

Sign up for games here, on Meetup, or by emailing your faithful War Weasel (which is now Dan Burgess, danburgess67@gmail.com).

Important Dates

  • August 9: Weasel Pyle Nine!

Dues
Less than 11 days to pay your 2014 dues and qualify for the season-ending Weasels awards. As of right now, two of the Best Country awards for Season 9 are held by players who aren’t members and therefore aren’t eligible for those awards or bids for the Weasel Royale.

We’re once again charging $25, $10 if you’re a student. Twenty-two people have paid up already.

Remember, your dues pay for our website, the Meetup site, our annual club awards, and the awards for both the Royale and the Brawl, among other things.

That’s all for this week.

I bought my shirt and will wear it at pride at my next game. Hopefully more than 3 club games in the next season!

Moot, while small, was fun and the location is fantastic. Even commuting from Evanston was easy.

Congrats to John on the sweep!

Che Otero!

You can’t blame Carlos Otero if his first impression was that Diplomacy was a piece of cake. He learned the game way back in September
