The Weekly Weasel — Week of March 31

Here’s the latest news from the Weasels as we head into CODCon this weekend.

CODCon Is This Weekend!
Speaking of CODCon, who’s ready? The Weasels’ longest running tournament (by a couple of months…) returns this weekend for an eighth installment, and we hope many of you will come out for at least a round.

The three-round tournament will be April 5-6 at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn. You can find more information about our tournament, including the schedule, here. Learn more about the CODCon convention here. When you decide to come, be sure to respond on Meetup here.

Prokes for Three
March Madness closed last Saturday with a fifth and final game at Matt Sundstrom’s home in Glenview. This one was a tight game, with lots of back and forth, several lead changes, and four players finishing within two centers of one another. In the end, it was Tony Prokes posting his club-leading third board top of the season. Check out the game summary.

A Fool and His Dots…
After a hiatus of nearly two months, we’ll resume the Bar Room Brawl Series in mid-April at the Red Lion in Lincoln Square. Join us for another evening of Dip and Drinks on April 16, beginning at 6:30 until no later than 11.

Weasel Moot in the Wings
Once CODCon is behind us, we’ll turn our focus to Weasel Moot, which this year will be July 26-27 at the Hampton Inn and Suites downtown. It’s a great location, and it should be a fun event. You can find all the info you need on the website, but briefly, it will be a three-round tournament with the best two rounds counting for score. We’ll have two rounds on Saturday and one on Sunday. On Friday, we plan to organize a social event — perhaps an outing to the Blue Frog’s Local 22 karaoke bar, which is right by the Hampton Inn.

Our room rate at the Hampton Inn is only good until April 28, so reserve your room soon. Check out the site and go ahead and preregister. You’ll save $5. Defending champ Chris Martin has already preregistered. Thanks, Chris, and welcome back!

Dues
Dues are due. Check out the Prime’s message, then use the convenient PayPal link to pay your 2014 dues. We’re once again charging $25, $10 if you’re a student. Fourteen people have paid up already. Thanks! Remember, your dues pay for our website, the Meetup site, our annual club awards, and the awards for both the Royale and the Brawl, among other things.

That’s all for this week.

Jim
