Here’s the latest news from the Weasels.
Hipster Beatdown
Witty banter. Tight pants. Unkempt hair. Saturday’s game in Logan Square had it all as seven of the club’s coolest cats gathered at Peter Lokken’s home to play Diplomacy over — yup, you guessed it — a handmade board. Store-bought boards are way too consumer.
Click here to see which player non-conformed his way to the board top and also to check out a pretty great photo that captures the essence of being a Weasel.
And the Nets Come Down
We oddly had to cancel last Thursday’s bar game due to lack of interest, but other than that blemish, this year’s March Madness has gone pretty well. Saturday’s game was our fourth of the month. Seventeen players have participated in the four games, with Ben DiPaola, Mike Morrison and Don Glass leading the way with three games apiece.
March Madness concludes this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Matt Sundstrom’s home in Glenview. The game will be the final tune-up before CODCon. We currently have five players. Can we find two more to make the game happen?
Only 11 Days until CODCon
I’ll be honest: When I first started trumpeting the coming of CODCon in these electronic pages, it seemed like the event would never get here. Well, guess what? It’s almost here.
The three-round tournament will be April 5-6 at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn. Have you made your plans to join us? These folks have. The list is up to 20. Can we get a few more commitments to give us a shot at three boards in one or two of the rounds?
You can find more information about our tournament, including the schedule, here. Learn more about the CODCon convention here. When you decide to come, be sure to respond on Meetup here.
Hroom, Hroom
Weasel Moot will be here soon, too. The Moot is scheduled for July 26-27 at the Hampton Inn and Suites downtown. It’s a great location, and it should be a fun event. You can find all the info you need on the website, but briefly, it will be a three-round tournament with the best two rounds counting for score. We’ll have two rounds on Saturday and one on Sunday. On Friday, we plan to organize a social event — perhaps an outing to the Blue Frog’s Local 22 karaoke bar, which is right by the Hampton Inn.
Our room rate at the Hampton Inn is only good until April 28, so reserve your room soon. Check out the site and go ahead and preregister. You’ll save $5. Defending champ Chris Martin has already preregistered. Thanks, Chris, and welcome back!

Dues
Okay, dues are officially due. The appeal is now up. Check out the Prime’s message, then use the convenient PayPal link to pay your 2014 dues. We’re once again charging $25, $10 if you’re a student. Fourteen people have paid up already. Thanks! Remember, your dues pay for our website, the Meetup site, our annual club awards, and the awards for both the Royale and the Brawl, among other things.
That’s all for this week.
