The Weekly Weasel — Week of July 29

Read on for the latest news from your favorite bunch of Weasels.

Two Weasels, Seven Points
Heading into the final event of Season Eight, a mere 7 points separates the top two contenders in the race for the Weasel of the Year. Having won the honor twice before, Matt Sundstrom has grown fond, even covetous, of the title. On July 17 in Game No. 217, the season’s penultimate event, Sundstrom showed us just how much he wants to win again, posting his third outright board top of the season and the highest scoring one of the bunch.

His 50 points vaulted him over Nate Cockerill in the standings. Cockerill had held the top spot since taking it from Sundstrom in Game No. 211 on May 1. Both of them will be at the season-ending Weasel Pyle on Aug. 10 at Eric Brown’s home in Wayne. Cockerill’s low score is 34.322. Sundstrom’s is 35.841.

We’ll field at least two boards at the Pyle. Play will begin at 11 a.m. and end no later than 10 p.m.

It’s Brawl Set!
Game No. 217 also marked the final event in our inaugural Bar Room Brawl Series. All season long, we’ve been scoring your best three bar games. Thirty-eight players participated in the 12 games. And now, we’re going to invite the top seven to compete in a championship game at the Red Lion, our sponsor for the series. Click here to see who they are. The championship game will be held at the Red Lion on a date to be determined. Stay tuned.

Calling all Candidates!
Would you like to help steer the club into the future? Three seats on the Sneak are opening. The election will be held at the Pyle. Learn more here.

Dues Are Due
Your 2013 membership dues are now due. Once again, we’re charging $25 for the calendar year, $10 for students. Paid-up members are eligible for our annual Weasels club awards and to compete in the Weasel Royale club championship game. I can tell you that right now, one of the best country awards is held by someone who hasn’t paid his dues. Dues-paying members may also run for the Sneak (did you hear about the election?) and can cast votes in the election.

Your dues help pay for our annual club awards, the Meetup site, our website, and other club activities. Help us out by paying your dues today. Twenty-five Weasels (thanks, Ulysses!) have paid up so far! Use the PayPal link online or give your dues to a Sneak member.

Jim
