The Weekly Weasel — Week of July 8

Here’s another brief edition of the Weekly Weasel, and it will have to tide you over till the week of the 22nd. I’m taking next week off, as I’ll be in the middle of a 10-day trip to beautiful Reno, Nevada.

Need Two for Saturday
We’re at five for Saturday’s game at Peter Lokken’s home in Old Town. Can we find two more to make a game? If so, it will start at 11 a.m. and end when it ends.

Schedule Change
Organizer Nate Cockerill moved yesterday’s Red Lion game to July 17. It will start at 6:30 p.m. and end no later than 11. The Red Lion is located at 4749 N Rockwell. We need four more to fill the first board.

A-Sig Solos for Second Straight Tourney Win
Adam Sigal soloed in the final round of last weekend’s Philadelphia Massacre to overcome a big lead by friend of the Weasels Graham Woodring and win his second tournament of the year. Sigal tied for first at DixieCon over Memorial Day Weekend. Weasel ex-pat Peter Yeargin finished third in the three-round, nine-board tournament.

At one time the premiere event of the New England hobby, the Massacre moved to Philadelphia this year from Boston. Christian Pedone organized the event, which featured nine first-time tournament players from a club he formed and advises at the inner-city high school where he teaches. Most of the rest of the field were traveling PTKSers.

Dues Are Due
Your 2013 membership dues are now due. Once again, we’re charging $25 for the calendar year, $10 for students. Paid-up members get first crack at all our game openings and are eligible for our annual Weasels club awards and to compete in the Weasel Royale club championship game. Your dues help pay for our annual club awards, the Meetup site, our website, and other club activities. Help us out by paying your dues today. Twenty-three Weasels have paid up so far! Use the PayPal link online or give your dues to a Sneak member.
