Weasel Moot VII

Moot: n a deliberative assembly primarily for the administration of justice.
Weasel: vb to escape from or evade a situation or obligation. n 1: small carnivorous mammal that is able to prey on animals larger than itself. n 2: cunning Diplomacy player indigenous to the Chicago area.

The hobby’s best-named tournament is back for a seventh installment, and this time, we’ll be back in the suburbs!

When: June 22-23, 2013.
Where: Holiday Inn Willowbrook, 7800 S. Kingery Hwy., Willowbrook, IL 60521.
What: A three-round Diplomacy tournament. Best two rounds count for score. It only takes one round to be eligible for awards.
Who: Take a look at the growing list of confirmed attendees.
How much: The entry fee is $40. Preregistration fee is $35. ($20 for students and kids; $18 if they preregister.) You may preregister through June 20 using the link below.

Room Reservations: We’ve reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn. The room rate is $119 per night for singles or doubles. To reserve your room, call 630-325-6400. Mention Windy City Weasels to get our room rate. (Note: If you have any trouble with the hotel, call 630-321-7014 and ask for Debbie Gallo. She’s handling our account.) The cut-off for our block is May 31.

Schedule:

Friday, June 21
Welcome Party: 7 p.m., at Dan Burgess’ home, 5409 Benton Ave. in Downers Grove. That’s less than 5 miles from the hotel. Festivities will include open gaming and a fire pit, plus drinks.
 
Saturday, June 22
Round 1
Registration:
9 to 9:30 a.m.
Board Call: 9:45 a.m.
 
Round 2
Registration:
5:15 to 5:45 p.m.
Board Call: 6 p.m.
 
Sunday, June 23
Round 3
Registration:
9 to 9:30 a.m.
Board Call: 9:45 a.m.

The tournament will end at a predetermined time between 3 and 5 p.m. A brief awards ceremony will follow 15 minutes after the conclusion of the tournament.

    Edi Birsan is the latest traveler to commit to this year’s Moot. We now have preregistration fees and/or travel itineraries from nine out-of-towners. It should be another big tournament.
