WDC Lodging

For the event, we’ve blocked rooms at the Congress Plaza Hotel, which is right on Michigan Avenue, across from Grant Park, the place where President Obama gave his acceptance speech in 2008. We’ve blocked a mix of singles and doubles, all for the competitive rate of $129 per night, plus tax, which is currently 15.4 percent.

The rooms are available Thursday, August 9, through Saturday, August 11. Checkout is Sunday, August 12. For interested guests, the hotel will extend our group rate for three days prior and three days after.

The rooms are blocked under the name WDC. Reservations may be made by calling 312/427-3800, ext. 5025, or 800/635-1666, or online here. Callers must mention WDC to get the group rate. To check out the Congress, click here.

Dormitory-style housing is available at the University Center, just two blocks away. Players may contact the University Center on their own to book single rooms in four-bedroom apartments for $81.50 per night. Alternatively, for $63 per night, they can stay in a two-bedroom suite. Each bedroom in the suite has two beds, and the $63 price is based on double occupancy. Single occupancy is $103.50 per night. The two-bedroom suite option includes one meal per day in the University Center’s cafeteria. There’s a two-night minimum at the University Center. Reservations may be made by calling 312/924-8000. There is no room block here. Learn more here.

For attendees who are on a tighter budget, the Chicago Hostel is less than two blocks from the venue, at 24 E Congress Parkway. A room there can be had for $35 per night. Call 312/360-0300 to reserve a room. Click here for more information. There is no block at the hostel.

One traveler got a room rate of $79 per night at the Travelodge, which is on the next block, by running a two-star blind search on Hotwire. Check that out for yet another option.
