Enter the Dragon

The club welcomed new recruit Dragon Graygol into the fold in the traditional Weasel fashion last night at Ballydolye Irish Pub in Downers Grove — with multiple stabs to the back.

Peter Lokken (what’s new?) topped Game No. 139 with a 14-center Turkey. The game ended by time limit after the Fall 1908 turn in the following center counts:

Austria (Mike Morrison): 1; 0.270 points.
England (Nate Cockerill): 12; 38.919 points.
France (Ted McClelland): 2; 1.081 points.
Germany (Dragon Graygol): 0; 0.000 points.
Italy (Todd Woodman): 5; 6.757 points.
Russia (Amanda Baumgartner): 0; 0.000 points.
Turkey (Peter Lokken): 14; 52.973 points.

The supply center chart is here. I’ll update the club standings when I get a chance, which likely won’t be till I return from the honeymoon. Until then, let’s hear from the players. From the bits and pieces I heard, this game featured some fireworks…

It was nice to finally meet Dragon last night. I could not play, but it was fun to welcome the players, pass around the box to draw powers, and watch them get started. I then played the card game Zar with some of the Downers Grove Board Game Club meetup group before leaving around 7:45.

Whoever has my Diplomacy board, please let me know!

I have heard of shoving, I have witnessed yelling, but I have NEVER seen a drink so deliberately spit in. We have sunk to a new low! Someone is still owed a drink, by my recollection. Don’t be a hater! By the way, welcome to the club dragon

Our last new player from a recruiting game still has Best Turkey…also from a Ballydolyle game. Too bad that Dragon was not able to repeat that feat.
