Cock-e-rill!

It’s a toss-up as to which was more impressive last night: Nate Cockerill’s stylish beret and disturbing Hangover t-shirt or the way he dominated Game No. 115 as Russia. For a second straight Wednesday, the Weasels were at Guthrie’s Tavern for Diplomacy. This time eight of us showed up, including new player Lauren Norris, a co-worker of longtime Guthrie’s players John Susoreny and Michael Martinez, both of whom hadn’t played in a long time–since December and March, respectively. The odd, or rather even, number left your War Weasel to drink alone at the bar. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.

In addition,
two other women joined us, and both seemed interested in trying the game at a future event. Peter Lokken’s friend actually sat at the table for the entire night. (By the way, Peter, your hat is in my bag.) And there may or may not have been a Matt Sundstrom sighting.

The game ended by time limit after the Fall 1906 turn with the following center counts:

Austria (Michael Martinez): 5; 10.417 points.
England (Mike Morrison): 2; 1.667 points.
France (John Susoreny): 8; 26.667 points.
Germany (John Gramila): 1; 0.417 points.
Italy (Peter Lokken): 4; 6.667 points.
Russia (Nate Cockerill): 11; 50.417 points.
Turkey (Lauren Norris): 3; 3.750 points.

The supply center chart is here. Now let’s hear from the players. And let’s all hope for a good turnout at tonight’s game at Ballydoyle in Downers Grove.
