Here’s some news for those of you who can’t make DipCon 2010 in San Francisco (April 16-18).
The Windy City Weasels are proud to announce that we will be back at the College of Dupage in April for our fourth annual CODCon Open Diplomacy Tournament. The tournament will be held April 10-11, with two rounds on Saturday and one on Sunday.
Sub-Prime Weasel Kevin O’Kelly will serve as tournament director. Incidentally, O’Kelly was COD’s student council president when the school’s Science Fiction Club started CODCon.
For those of you who haven’t been, CODCon is a small gaming convention held annually at COD’s Student Resource Center, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn. The con attracts about 300 people throughout the weekend, most of whom are there to play roleplaying games and/or beat each other with foam swords. As you can imagine, the con affords fantastic people watching. It has also been a great site for our minor tournament.
The CODCon Open has a much smaller profile than Weasel Moot, our major annual event. Although we welcome travelers, typically all but one or two players are local. Consequently, CODCon is a much safer environment than Weasel Moot in which to cut your tournament teeth.
Players once again will vie for first- through third-place plaques, certificates for fourth through seventh place, and Best Country awards. Plus we may offer additional prizes. We’ll again use a central clock and drop-dead timing.
We’ll kick off the weekend with open gaming at Pime Weasel Jim O’Kelley’s home in Oak Brook. He’ll also open his home for crashing all weekend. he lives 10 minutes from the con.
We hope you’ll join us for our fourth Open. April will be here before you know it, so start negotiating with your loved ones now! Watch the site for more information. Click here to learn more about CODCon, and click here to check out photos from last year’s event.
