Game on at the Lion
Thursday's game at the Red Lion in Lincoln Square is full. As always, standbys are welcome. If there's sufficient interest, perhaps we could start a second board. The game will start at 6:30 p.m. and end no later than 11.

Here's the latest news from the Weasels...brief for the especially busy Weasel.

Need One for Tomorrow's Game
We have six for tomorrow's game at the Red Lion. We don't need a mathematician to tell us that we're one short. ... Of course, if said mathematician also happened to play Diplomacy, we'd take him!

How about joining us for an evening of Dip and Drinks at the Red Lion in Lincoln Square, 4749 N Rockwell in Chicago. The game starts at 6:30 and will end no later than 11. Please sign up.

Picking someone to pull for in this World Series is a bit like deciding who you'd like to win the Weasel Royale besides your son and yourself. The Cardinals just won a couple of years ago, and the Red Sox are the new Evil empire. I'm cheering for baseball and a Game Seven.

Speaking of Game Seven, my mom was in labor in Lawrence, Massachusetts, during Game Seven of the 1967 World Series between these same two teams. Carl Yastrzemski won the Triple Crown that year, and a lot of people suggested that my parents name their baby boy after him. My dad had other plans, and fortunately, neither parent was a big baseball fan at the time.

If the Moniker Fits...
Nate Cockerill is a man of many monikers. Nate the Snake. Cock. The Myth Chaser. Beefy. The Big Oozy.

Now we can add one more: The North American Champion.

Slow news week, so we'll keep this one extra brief.

A Champion Will Be Crowned
The 2013 North American Diplomacy Championship will be this weekend at Tempest in a Teapot in Silver Spring, Maryland. My son Kevin and I will be driving out for the event, and it looks like Nate Cockerill and/or Dan Burgess will be joining us for the road trip. Watch @windycityweasel for my tweets from the road and the con.

Brawl Opener a Knockout for Cockerill
It may be lights out for the competition after just one game in the 2014 Bar Room Brawl Series. Beefy Nate Cockerill landed a knockout punch with the club's first ever Bar Game Solo. Click here for photographic evidence, the supply center chart, and the stunned reaction of one of the players. Legends do exist. Nate both proved that and is proof of that.

Here's the latest news from the Weasels. It will be a brief one, as it's a light news week and Meghan and I are busy binge-watching Orphan Black.

Brawl Roars into the Lion
The 2014 Bar Room Brawl Series opens Wednesday night at the Red Lion in Lincoln Square, proud sponsor of the championship game. We currently have eight players signed up. Five or six more and we can field two boards. Who's in? (Note that we can take one more for the first board, as we have two players willing to drop if we fall short of two boards.)

Strange Start to Season Nine
After a false start two weeks ago, Season Nine finally opened Friday night in Little Italy. It was Friday the 13th, and we knew we were in for an odd night when Mike Morrison showed up with a box of creampuffs.

"Creampuffs for the creampuffs," he said with a sneer, and then he proved it so. Check out the game summary and reaction from a couple of the players.
