Due to scheduling conflicts at Guthrie's and an early Friday morning flight for the War Weasel, this week's Guthrie's game is moving to Wednesday night. The Ballydoyle game in Downers Grove remains on Thursday night.
It was a new year with a new scoring system, but the same old Matt Sundstrom topped the board last night in Game 111, played at Guthrie's Tavern in Wrigleyville. The game, which also featured Weasel expat Greg "The Cockpuncher" Duenow and former Sneak member Jeremiah Peterson, ended in a five-way, A/E/F/R/T draw during the Spring 1908 turn. The final center counts were:
Peter Lokken topped his first board with the Weasels in Game No. 110, played today at John Gramila's home in Logan Square. The game ended in Spring 1909 in a six-way draw. The final center counts were:
Check out the supply center chart here. Now let's hear from the players.
Next up for the Weasels is another Dip and Drinks event at Guthrie's Tavern on Oct. 21. We currently have two boards guaranteed and are pushing for a third. Make your plans to join us!
Cue Dream Academy...
The holidays can be such a busy time a year that we've decided to give you your choice of back-to-back opportunities to play Dip in a Northern suburb.
Make your plans to join us on Thursday, Nov. 18, as we attempt to play multiple boards in different locations for the first time. One of those locations is familiar: Guthrie's Tavern, our club's favorite haunt. We'll play at least one board of Diplomacy there that night. The other location is new, but it should feel familiar. We're taking our Guthrie's act on the road to Ballydoyle in Downers Grove. Two bars, one club. Sign up below.
Update: Due to a scheduling conflict at Guthrie's and an early Friday morning flight for the War Weasel the Guthrie's game is moving to Wednesday night, Nov. 17!
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the guns of Europe fell silent and World War I came to an end. At 11 p.m. this Wednesday night, we'll commemorate that moment by dropping our pens to end a Diplomacy game at Guthrie's Tavern. Originally scheduled for Chicagoland Games, we changed venues to take advantage of the holiday on Thursday.
Hey guys...this just in! Windy City Weasels will be sponsoring two Diplomacy boards at the Conception 2010 Gaming Convention, to be held in Glen Ellyn, IL! If three rounds of bloody tournament diplomacy at this year's Weasel Moot just isn't enough, take the short 30-minute drive up to College of DuPage and jump in on a Sunday afternoon round at Conception.
Club Member Tony Prokes will be your host at the event. We will have a special Introductory game for newbies which will be GM'd by Tony, along with a second game open on a first come, first serve basis to all. The regular game will start up @ 12pm, while the Introductory game is scheduled to kick off @ 1pm.

While the Royale raged upstairs at Dan Burgess' home in Downers Grove, the Undercard game in the basement kicked off Season 6. The game ended after 1909 in a four-way, E/F/R/T draw. John Gramila, playing Turkey, topped the board with a 12-center Turkey, earning 47.059 points out of a possible 100 in the Sum of Squares system, which we're using to score games in Season 6. The final center counts were:
As announced at the Weasel Pyle on Aug. 14, season six officially will commence with an undercard game at the Weasel Royale on Sept. 11.
The Royale and the Undercard take place at Dan Burgess' home in Downers Grove, beginning at 11 a.m. While players in the Undercard will enjoy Dan's chili and his hand-craft beer, they'll have to fend for themselves, as Dan will be busy running the Royale game. In addition, the Undercard players won't have access to Dan's networked conference rooms.
If you'd like to participate in the Undercard, sign up below!
Standbys needed in case Sam and possibly John get drafted for the Royale.
