facts about us

#Season 14

Our Diplomacy league is the most active in North America. We average more than two league games per month in addition to Tournament play. We score all of our games using the Sum of Squares scoring system, and each player's best three scores count toward the season standings. We are known for our fierce competition, strong traditions, upstanding character and trustworthiness, and the propensity for Turkey to open to Armenia.

When to be there
Social: Friday, August 31. Club Founder Jim O'Kelley is organizing an outing to the Battle of the Soxes, a 7:10 p.m. baseball game between the hometown White Sox and the hated Red Sox. Depending on interest, tickets will be either free or available for $10 to $20. If you're interested, contact Jim at This email address is being protected from spambots. Arriving too late to participate? Hate baseball? Let Jim know. As club treasurer and social director, he's gauging interest in a an open-game night at the venue. There's also an opportunity to go watch Tournament Director Bryan Pravel perform improv at Chicago's legendary Second City comedy club. That will be from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. And no one hates laughing, right?

Regardless of which option you prefer, chances are great that all groups will link up for late-night drinks. Off the board, we Weasels aim to show our guests a great time! On the board, well, cover your vulnerable parts and watch your back!

Round 1: Saturday, September 1, 9:00am (registration closes at 8:45am). No end time. Lunch provided. Yay!
Round 2: Saturday, September 1, 6:00pm (registration closes at 5:45pm). No end time. Dinner on you own. Boo!

Awards: Sunday, September 2, 15 minutes after the end of Round 3 (followed by a group dinner at a local restaurant to be determined).

How the tournament will work
All games will be scored using the sum of squares scoring system, and players will be ranked by the sum of their top 3 scores.  Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers and the top single-game scorer for each country.

Who's up for the Friday night social? I'm taking a bunch of travelers to the Sox game. Some other folks may play board games at the venue. Please let us know asap if you're up for entertaining our guests Friday night (and if you are one of our guests, let us know which activity you'd prefer for Friday!).
