Yeargin salvages club honor, wins Weasel Moot!

Tournament Game Reports

Only one Chicagoan cracked the top 10 at Weasel Moot IV, but he did so in convincing fashion. Peter Yeargin posted large board tops in the first and third rounds to win the Moot and become our new Alpha Weasel. He's the third straight Weasel to win the Moot and also the first player to capture two best-country awards since Matt Sundstrom and Don Williams turned the trick in Moot I.

We had four boards in each of the three rounds and a total of 37 players at the tournament, which was played Sept. 24-25, with an awards ceremony on the 26th. The numbers included 13 travelers, an all-time high for us. Seven of the travelers were playing at the Moot for the first time.

Here are the final standings:

Some things I learned this tournament:
* Funny hat rounds are pretty funny
* Having a team round is interesting
* Amanda Baumgartner is completely capable of planning and executing a well-timed stab
* Running a Diplomacy tournament is a lot of work, but is totally worth it
*Having a bar open until 2am directly across from the tournament room is a two-sided coin
* People who travel to Diplomacy tournaments are awesome. I am going to make an effort to travel in 2011. Though that won't make me awesome.

Talk about flawed logic...

which part of the logic is flawed? The travelers being awesome, or traveling making you awesome? or both?

Syllogism:

Aristotle: All travelers are awesome. Socrates is a traveler; therefore, Socrates is awesome.

Dan: All travelers are awesome. Socrates is a traveler; however, Socrates is not awesome.

Dan clearly meant to say "People who travel to Diplomacy tournaments effortlessly are awesome."

I have yet to see any logic applied over a Diplomacy board with any of you people. Why should we start using logic now?

As long as you update your board-planning software I will be back and kicking your collective ass....

I agree with Dan.

WindyCityWeasel: He's faking it though. He's on board 2; I'm on board 1, making bad choices as Turkey.
